Australia's national football team defeated Thailand 4-0 Monday night to stay alive in the Asian Cup. Striker Mark Viduka scored twice in three minutes to give the Socceroos their much-needed win after they absorbed waves of Thai attacks. The score did not reflect the immense pressure the Socceroos had to endure in a tense second half before Viduka gave his team a lifeline into the quarter-finals. Australia now faces Asian powerhouse Japan in Hanoi on Saturday night.

BMA: Bangkok will become a 'paradise'
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will establish a fund for a project to turn Bangkok into a paradise. A BMA spokesman said the fund would be used mostly to tackle problems such as garbage, pollution, traffic and drugs, and to improve access to recreational activities, sports and education in the capital. Hi-so crocodile spotted in Thong Lor
A young crocodile disrupted business on Thong Lor street in Bangkok when it was spotted squatting on a sidewalk in the posh neighborhood famed for boutique shops and fancy restaurants. Fear quickly turned to sympathy for reptile, after panicked pedestrians realized its mouth and feet were bound with string. Zoo experts called in to save the beast speculated that it had fallen off the back of a truck Friday morning as it was being taken to an unspecified location for unspecified reasons.

Medical tourism rises in Asia
An increasing number of Western tourists are traveling to Asia in order to receive inexpensive, yet high-quality, medical care and cosmetic surgery. Last year, more than 1.3 million patients were treated in Asia alone, a rate that continues to grow at about 30 percent a year. Bangkok's Bumrungrad Hospital is one of the most recognizable facilities in the world for those looking to receive less expensive medical care. Bumrungrad has more than 20 offices around the globe, and serves more than 1 million patients every year. Those traveling to Asia for health care services say they do so because of low cost, superior hospitality and short wait times.
